Key Cover
Replacement keys or locksmiths can be very expensive. Key cover provides insurance for lost or stolen keys. Cover is also included should you lock your keys inside your home or vehicle and require a locksmith to gain entry.
Available for just £16.50 – a small cost for peace of mind.
Motor Legal Expenses
Adding Motor Legal Expense insurance for just £37.50 could save you £1000s in the event of an accident or dispute.
The policy is designed to cover the cost of professional fees charged by a solicitor following a specific occurrence, provided that cover for that occurrence is detailed within the policy wording and is not specifically excluded.
FAQs
Horsebox recovery is not included as standard but is available as an additional policy. At Shearwater we only work with highly regarded breakdown providers, with nation wide support networks. When combined with our horsebox insurance, customers can save on their Horsebox Breakdown policy.
At Shearwater Insurance we include any driver over 25-years-old as standard in all our horsebox insurance policies, meaning comprehensive cover is available to anyone over that age that you agree to drive your vehicle.
Named driver and young driver options are also available.
If you are not receiving any form of ‘reward’, financial or otherwise, then you will be covered to transport other’s horses under a horsebox insurance policy that is for ‘social, domestic and pleasure’. When charging people for transporting their horses, or if using the horsebox in connection with your business then a policy change will be required.
We recommend discussing your types of use with one of our brokers for expert advice.
Business Use – will provide cover if you are using your horsebox in connection with your own business. For example, if you are a professional rider transporting horses to competitions, on behalf of owners, but are not receiving any type of reward from which you make a profit from.
Hire & Reward – is when you are viewed to be receiving a profitable reward for transporting other people’s horses. This could include charging a specific fee per mile.
Processes may vary depending on your individual insurer. Always make sure you have policy details, including policy number and claims number, saved, and stored in a handy location.
