You may fully understand the tendencies and temperaments of horses under your instruction, but it doesn’t mean that these unpredictable creatures can’t still take you and any riders you’re teaching by surprise.

As a riding instructor, you have a duty to ensure your clients are riding safely; your livelihood is at stake if you do not, so it is important to take steps to protect yourself in the event of an incident. This is why instructors insurance is imperative.

Your Responsibility as an Instructor

As a riding instructor, you have a duty to ensure your clients are riding safely; If you do not do that and an incident occurs which causes your client to suffer injury or property damage they can make a claim against you and if you are found negligent this can run in to thousands of pounds. This is an insurance designed to cover you against this type of incident.  It will also cover you for any legal fees incurred in defending yourself against such a claim.  If you teach at all or hold clinics it would be wise to take this cover.

You’re not alone

If you’re a freelance instructor, you could feel quite isolated in the face of a claim or compensation demand, as it’s your livelihood and reputation that’s on the line, and yours alone. At Shearwater we understand your concerns and will be there to guide you through the claims process in the event of an unpredictable incident resulting in a claim.

Our credentials at Shearwater

We work alongside many freelance riding instructors and trainers to ensure that their equestrian business is in safe hands. In doing so, we’ve given ourselves the experience to create effective policies that can help ensure you’re financially covered. This leaves you to concentrate fully on the task at hand, focusing on your clients’ learning and development, knowing that you’re financially protected if something goes wrong. This is the case whether you’re a riding instructor within a school or you train others at their own stables.

Just wanted to drop you a line and say a big thank you for the excellent response to our horsebox breakdown in Durham last Saturday.

The Rescue Control Centre was calm and extremely supportive in spite of the poor mobile signal we were having to endure – isn’t it always the case the mobile signal is poor when you are desperate!!!

The response from the recovery company (Turners/Darlington CCR) was first class and the staff were extremely professional and helpful.
Many many thanks and probably the best money I have ever spent!!
