Young Horse Semi Finals - Hartpury

The first semi-final for the Shearwater Young Horse classes took place at Hartpury College, where future stars came to book their places for Nationals.

With quality horses forward across all three age sections it was the youngest category who scored the highest final marks with Waverley Fellini, ridden by Greg Sims finishing on 8.86.

Keeping Your Yard Covered

It is an ideal situation as a horse owner to own your own yard and something many of us can only dream about, but whether you are lucky enough to have stables at your house or to rent your own space somewhere else or even run a yard, there is no doubt you are keen to make sure that they are protected.

If you have five stables, or 20, an indoor school, sand school or lunge pen every yard will look different to the next, but they are all equally as important to their owners. So, what would happen if you were broken into, or rain caused your yard to flood or a horse was injured in your care? Would you have the support in place to get you and any clients back on their feet?

Antiques Insurance that works for you

If you are in the antiques business you will be well aware that not every item in your shop is the same and this is the same for Insurance policies, one size doesn’t fit all.

At Shearwater we understand the antiques business and have specific surveyors to work with you to ensure your stock is treated as individually as it is and that is why we offer a bespoke antiques policy.

Daniel Bates - Getting competition confident

Hi Everyone, I can’t believe how quickly this year is going!

So despite some awful weather which at times I thought was going to see me doing a Wizard of Oz on LittleMan, I’ve still managed to train 4/5 a week, thank god for an indoor school!

I started March with a competition on home soil at Abbey Dressage which was run by Cheltenham Riding Club which always helps with my warm up arena practice and competition practice which gave me a result of 64%.

Sophie Hall - Embodying Our Inner Dressage Divas

Hi everyone,

February was the month of teasing us all with 20 degree sunshine and that false hope of an early summer arriving! It really was lovely to be able to enjoy getting out and about with the horses with a few less layers on. Now I am sat mid-march with the hail storm raining down outside but here’s hoping that lovely sunshine returns again soon.

Daniel Bates - My First Affiliated Dressage

Hi Everyone

I cant quite believe it has been 12 months since I came runner up in Shearwater's Search for a Star competition and what a 12 months it has been with me changing trainers, changing yards, moving two horses, changing horses and becoming a full time dressage rider. It has been a whirlwind and I'm glad Shearwater has been with me along the way.

Sophie Hall – 2019 let’s go! New Year, New Goals

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and had fun bringing in the New Year with family, friends and of course, most importantly, our four-legged equine friends! Shamefully I did not manage to complete any admirable dry/vegan/health-kick January but I am feeling inspired and motivated to make 2019 a great year with lots of new goals for the boys.

2019 I am Ready For You!

Happy New Year Everyone
Well its 2019 and I've made it! This time last year I did wonder if I would still be riding at all but with some determination a fantastic amount of support from friends and family and some huge career changes I turned a corner and things are now going from strength to strength but where I am now needs and deserves some recognition for some special people.

Time to say goodbye to 2018!

Hi everyone,

Can you believe it, the year has absolutely flown by and we can finally say Merry Christmas!! Dare I say it I am yet to see any festive snow but the Hall household is certainly feeling ready for Father Christmas. We have been busy decorating, the lights are up outside, the trees are well and truly packed with decs and even the horses have their own tinsel in the barn. Even at 24 years old my amazing mum still buys me an advent calendar which I LOVE and am a firm believer that no one can ever be too old to have one. However, I think I was even more excited to see the horses’ advent calendars arrived and finally be able to share them with them.

Daniel Bates - 2019 What A Year!

Merry Christmas Guys!

I cant quite believe it is December and the year is nearly over but I am still having a fantastic time.

So after my November competition I went back into training with my next competition on the horizon. Since becoming a full time rider my training schedule is fast and furious but it is working. I am having more fun than ever learning new things everyday and experiencing things I had only ever dreamed of.
